In the times of war, the country is very chaotic and people are suffering as well as stressed out. Marjane and her family were not different from the rest, so in order to release and relax themselves, they decided to join the party at Marjane's uncle's place to celebrate the birth of her cousin. By doing so, Marjane and her family were going against the government as having party and having alcohol were banned by the government Suddenly, a wailing sounds of the siren went off which cause every one in the party to panic and turn into a chaotic situation. To my horror, Marjane's aunt actually abandon her new born child into Marjane's arm and fled for her life (Satrapi 106 - 107). I felt that her action is totally immoral and irresponsible. She should be happy and appreciative that she was given a child because there are many others who wants to have a child but they cannot. Those who are unfortunate tried many different methods to have a baby, such as by in vitro fertilisation and many more. Yet many of those who are being blessed with a child did immoral actions like abandoning the child and aborting them which really cause my heart to ache.
Recently, I received an email which states that among the Chinese people in China, there is a new trend going on. The new trend is to eat baby herbal soup to increase their health and sexual performance/stamina. The cost of it is about four thousand Yuan (China Currency). They claimed that is it a delicacy whereby expensive herbs are added to the baby which then is boiled /steamed with chicken meat for eight long hours. The cost of the baby varies accordingly, those babies who are close to born and die naturally cost two thousand Yuan while the aborted ones cost a few hundreds Yuan. The placenta are also at sale for a couple of hundreds. Many, including myself are questing whether these are true. If it is true, is this action the backfire of China's one child policy, since majority of the people prefer to have male babies rather than female babies? There are no words that can describe this despicable trade. I am really wondering what do these people's heart made of, they are, like Marjane's aunt who is lucky enough to be blessed with child but yet they are cruel enough to abandon them, to trade them for money. Don't they have the sense of guilt?
